Homemade Slime: Recipe and Tips to Avoid Mistakes
Soft, colorful and super fun (but also safe!)
Slime has been one of the most popular children's crafts in recent years. But online recipes are often a sticky mess. Here's a simple, tested, and safe guide for making DIY slime without clogging the sink (or losing your patience).
The basic ingredients
For basic slime, you'll need: 100 ml of clear or white PVA glue, 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 1 teaspoon of contact lens solution (with boric acid), food coloring, and glitter (optional). Everything is easy to find.
Preparation step by step
Pour the glue into a bowl. Add the baking soda and mix well. Then add the dye and finally the lens solution, a little at a time. Stir until you reach the desired consistency. If it's too runny, add a pinch more baking soda.
Anti-disaster tricks
Don't overdo it with the lens solution: you risk gummy slime. And be careful not to use water-based glue or "cheap" PVA glue, otherwise... goodbye slime! It's always best to try small amounts first.
Creative variations
Fluffy slime (with shaving cream), scented slime (with essential oils), glittery slime, or beaded slime: the combinations are endless! The key is to always use safe materials and supervise little ones.
